Lin Great Speaker Series
presents
Paris in a Perfect Moral Storm: Ethics, Climate Change and the Tyranny of the Contemporary
with Guest Speaker
Stephen Gardiner, Ph.D.,
Professor
of Philosophy and Ben Rabinowitz Endowed Professor of Human Dimensions
of the Environment, University of Washington, Seattle
February 17, 2016
The Lin Great Speakers Series will be held in conjunction with the Conference on Justice and Social Concerns-Stewardship in Science: A Dialogue on Faith and Bioethics and concludes the schedule of events for the conference.
Gardiner
will share his knowledge and expertise about the reality of climate
change, as well as our ethical responsibility to actively respond. How
can we, as a community of faith, respond to the need of our times and be
an active part of this vital and complex conversation? The Lin Great Speakers Series is presented to the public as a community
service. The lectures are made possible by an endowment established in
memory of Shu-Chi Lin by his widow, Mrs. Chang Le-Chiao Lin, and their
son, Vincent Lin, Ph.D., a St. Mary’s alumnus and former faculty member.
Lectures feature Nobel laureates and other distinguished speakers who
represent music and the arts, science, engineering, technology and
medicine, humanities and global interests, and economics, business and
law. Topics of lectures have included health care, interfaith dialogue
and the challenges of globalization.
