About Nancy M. Rourke, Ph.D.
Nancy M. Rourke teaches courses in religious studies, Catholic ethics and ecotheology at Canisius University of Buffalo, NY where she has led sustainability and Catholic Studies programs. She has also taught graduate and undergraduate courses in social ethics, religions and bioethics in Rochester-area institutions. She earned her Ph.D. in Theology at St. Patrick’s College, the Pontifical University of Maynooth, Ireland and Master’s degrees in Theology at Boston University. Rourke’s scholarship is in Catholic ecological virtue ethics, ecotheology and medical ethics at the end of life. She has served on the editorial boards for the Conversations on Jesuit Higher Education magazine and the Journal for Critical Animal Studies and is a member of the Board of the College Theology Society.
Her new book, “Ecological Moral Character: A Catholic Model”, was published in January of 2024 as part of the “Moral Traditions” series of books from Georgetown University Press.
